I had a beautiful conversation with Tara Aldridge for my #podcast (dropping next Monday 9 Aug).

We connected awhile ago, and met sporadically at London’s Calling and on LinkedIn.

However, the most inspiring thing that happened recently was that, along with Vanessa Hunt, we jointly helped someone find her first job in the #Salesforce ecosystem.

It was a big deal, because the pandemic ended her 20+ year career in the aviation industry and she was able to pivot industries and move into a tech role with Vonage!

Ah, I think it was one of the most heartwarming thing I’ve been directly involved in for quite awhile. 🥰

Here, Tara talks about how to find great talent, and it’s about setting the right expectations.

Set out what the new person will be expected to learn and achieve in the first month, the second month and so on.

Not knowing what’s coming up, and not having enough support can cause a lot of anxiety, and you should want your new hires to feel confident and excited.

We can do so much more to embrace and support new joiners.
Most Consulting Partners are busy.
Busy delivering and working on projects.
Too busy to nurture the newcomers…

But we can do better.
And a platter of 🍩s to say “Welcome!” would never go amiss! 😋
