I think it’s better to over-prepare, than to under-prepare – as much as you can within the time that you have.
This is so important when it comes to running workshops.
You have this slice of time with the key people who will
– give you a glimpse of their world at work
– detail the business processes of what they currently do
– tell you their pain, and the things that isn’t working for them
– give you the answers you need to make their world better
.. so you really don’t want to blow it.
Sure, you can have ‘mop up’ sessions later, but it is critical, as #Salesforce or #MicrosoftDynamics consultants to absolutely nail this as best as you can.
And _that_ is why, I emphasise preparation so much.
Any consultant who rock up to a workshop thinking that their experience will allow them to ‘wing it’ will find that they might get a curveball which will expose them.
An experienced consultants may have a much better feel for the type of questions to ask, but would not allow themselves to walk into a situation without preparing.
That’s just nuts. 😵
