“Tell me about the moments leading up to the call us. Tell me what was going through your mind and your heart?”
A desperate caller who turned to #Samaritans during her hour of need talked about the deeply painful situation which led up to that point.
She also talked about how and why she later became a listening volunteer.
I’m at a leadership conference for #samaritans in Birmingham.
Have you ever taken drugs?
I’ve not.
But if I had, I’d imagine that this is exactly what it would feel like. ☀️🌈🦄🧚
Everyone I speak to is deeply curious about me, and makes me feel like I’m the most important person to them, for that moment.
It’s such a beautiful feeling.
It feels like they are holding me tenderly in their cupped hands while I share a piece of my soul.
The modern life can be very harsh and unforgiving, so this space… This safe space where I can be me, where I will not be judged.
It’s an oasis of kindness.
It’s a safe haven and sanctuary from the crazy life outside.
It’s grey and rainy outside this hotel, but it’s beautiful inside.
I feel loved. ❤️
I feel like I matter.
It’s the fundamental principle about being a Human Being.
