“Arg! Why do they do that?!”
Sometimes I want to tear my hair out. 😤
I was on a call today with a newly certified Admin who had just secured a consulting role with a #Salesforce boutique partner.
He had been assigned a small project where he was to be the solo consultant as well as the project manager.
He was shown the project folder and documents used by previous project manager and told to draft the kick-off deck and copy the budget sheet to manage forecast and invoicing.
He. Had. No. Experience.
And he’s got kick-off with customer next Monday.
“What am I going to do?!”
He was so stressed he couldn’t hold any food down. 😰
This is really not a great position to be in.
We talked through the role expectations and made a plan.
Towards the end of the call, he was visibly more relaxed, as he was much clearer on what he had to do.
What really grinds my gears is that a lot of Consulting Partners should realize that putting your employees in these situation is very much like mental torture.
Make sure you give your employees guidance and support when you’re putting them in a role that is beyond their experience or skill.
