#ProjectManagement isn’t a glamourous job

#ProjectManagement isn’t a glamourous job. 👯‍♂️
Especially one who works with a #Salesforce partner.

We get squeezed on both sides:
– Our company wants us to maximise margin contribution and chargeable change requests, and
– Our customers who want us to implement the perfect project (along with perceived ‘changes’) without impacting scope, budget or timeline.

Sometimes it can be an impossible to satisfy both parties.

But that’s our job, and the best of us take it in our stride and make magic happen.

You know what, though – that magic isn’t snazzy and flashy with poofs of magical smoke. 🧙🏻‍♂️

It’s one that’s underpinned by creating relationships based on trust, and respect.

We make things happen because we are the glue.
– We are the glue that keeps things together.
– We do things that need to be done that no one thinks about.
– We coach and nurture the team so that we can fly faster. 🚀
– We support and elevate those around us.
– We de-escalate tension and resolve conflict.
– We help everyone carve a path to reach their potential, though that destination may eventually lie elsewhere. 🍀
– We help the team do the work that gets the job done, and have loads of fun and laughter along the way.

We are the glue.

We stay in the background when the cast take their bow after the curtain call, happy that we got to opening night on schedule.

Being a Project Manager in the Salesforce consulting world is not an easy job.

When things go pear shaped, the finger points to you. 🍐👈🏻
When things go well – the credit should go to your team (and yes, I believe this is the way it should be).

Regardless, I’ve found this profession to be exquisitely rewarding for so many reasons.

That’s why I coach Consulting Project Managers who have to manage and juggle the competing needs of their stakeholders and their company.

Ron Trotman is a Senior Salesforce Project Manager with one of the Global System Integrators. I used to coach him when we worked together, and he has been a member of Zenhao Academy since we launched in November.

Even though he’s now a senior PM, he’s still aware of the benefits of being exposed to other points of view, and that learning is continuous process.

I built ZenHao for people who want to level up their consulting skills and learn how to be an empathetic leader.

Members of ZenHao Academy gets access to
– steep discounts on Masterclasses and professional workshops
– growing library of bite-sized videos on consulting topics
– 90 minute workshops Every Other Friday and group coaching
… details below.

If you’re a consultant and you prefer 1-to-1 coaching with me, drop me a message.

I’d love to hear from you!
