The Zak Zituation

The Zak Zituation

“ARGH!”  Zak* looked really stressed.

“I don’t know what I’m doing and even though everyone’s really kind, they all seem to be too busy to really help.”

How was the onboarding?

“Onboarding? You mean induction? Yeah – we had a couple of days of that where I learned the origin of the company and values etc etc etc.”

No, I mean were you properly onboarded onto the project, and briefed on what the client is trying to achieve, the project approach, team structure, your role and responsibilities, etc?

“Nope. I was just told that I’d be assigned to a project and after one or two calls with the PM, I was then told I had to run a process workshop on their lead management process!! I have never done that before! And the PM says that it will be a piece of cake!!!”

He buried his face in his hands in despair.

*not his real name

Yes, this really did happen. And again – it’s not an uncommon scenario.

So many newly minted and certified #Salesforce admins have found consulting jobs in an ecosystem that is crying out for new talent.

The thing is – many partners are not equipped to onboard, train and mentor the new hires as they are grappling with projects and tight resources.

This means that despite a lot of comforting noises from the senior and more experienced staff about providing support, a lot of the newbies have been left to struggle on their own.

Sometimes, they are even assigned work that is outside of their capability and experience.

This is a bad situation.

Which is why I started Zenhao Academy for (new or aspiring) consultants who are looking to level up by learning and practising the communication and leadership skills.

April registration for membership is now open, and will end this Friday at 23:55pm Hawaii time. 😁 Details in the comments 👇🏻

I’ll let Talia Johnson tell you all about it. She’s a Salesforce Consultant, and a Consulting Discovery Masterclass alumni and apparently she’s a lot less like a deer in headlights now because of me. 🦌🏎

Anyway – what would you have Zak do?
