“My life with be perfect when <insert random achievement>.” 😬
It’s so easy to get caught in this trap.
For me, it’s when I step on the scales 😁
Never mind that I do weight training and cardio 6 days a week. 🏋🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️
Never mind that I eat sensibly (ok, 🍩 obsession isn’t real) 😆
One of the things about volunteering for a charity like #Samaritans and talking to people who are struggling is that it gives me #perspective.
Life won’t be perfect when we get that thing we want.
We won’t magically become happier when we
– get that job
– get that promotion
– win that deal
– marry that person
– buy that house
– win those accolades…
I remind myself that life is a journey.
And so, I savour life when I experience glimpses of beauty or joy, like when
❤ the kids truly connect with each other
❤ I make a difference to a caller
❤ someone makes an impression on my soul
My life isn’t perfect, and it never will be.
But it is rich. 💕
I have love
I have health
I have meaningful work
And I am making a difference.
That’s what I remind myself when I step on the scales and I get that pang of, “If only…” 😁
I’m sure I am not the only one who feels this way!!
Tell me if you do too?! 😄
