When you feel overwhelmed

When you feel overwhelmed with big feelings and dark thoughts, don’t keep it bottled up.

These feelings and thoughts will need to be addressed, one way or another.
Whether you deal with it head on..
Or you bury it deep right now..
Sooner or later, they will demand your attention.

Many people will avoid the pain of dealing with these big feelings and thoughts head on, because it is difficult to confront the pain that.

What I’ve found though, is that pushing it down and trying to bury the hurt from complicated, messy feelings tend to result in more pain in the long run.

The suffering of the human condition rarely has a simple answer, but I know that having a support network you can lean on and people you can talk to, can make the burden so much easier to bear.

If you’re struggling and you’re in the UK, you can call Samaritans freephone on 116 123.  This is the best option if you’re currently in crisis and you need to talk to someone.

Otherwise, you can email jo@samaritans.org or you can also use our pilot webchat facility where the hours of operation is between 6-11pm GMT.

If you’re struggling, please reach out and talk to someone.
You don’t have to go through this alone. 🌹
