Nowhere have I seen a sport that ignites emotions to such euphoric highs or crashes in such terrifying lows as this.
Anyone who is abusive will not need much of an excuse to take out their anger on a defenceless person.
However, a combination of alcohol and the loss of our national team will be a potent mix.
On the flip side, if we win, I’m sure that domestic abuse in Italy will also see a spike.
It is a sobering thought.
I’m not watching the game because I’m on my listening shift with #Samaritans tonight.
My heart is breaking just thinking about it.
