Crisis for Christmas ’19 with Samaritans

Tomorrow I start my 48 hr shift as a Samaritan volunteer with Crisis for Christmas.

I am so incredibly fortunate in my place in life now, with my health, an amazing family, and a chosen vocation that fills my soul.

Having been close to homelessness, and the depths of despair that seem to make only option as an ‘escape’, I know what it feels to be there. To be desperate, and without hope.

I choose to volunteer a few hours a week with Samaritans as my way of giving back. I am one of the lucky ones, and am reminded every day, how things could have turned out so differently.

This year, when you go about your shopping and business, and you see someone hungry, homeless the wet and cold, please invite them to join Crisis for a warm, dry Christmas where they can get a safe warm place to sleep, food, medical aid, vet assistance, new clothes and supplies. And human company.

If you are at a loose end this Christmas please volunteer to help make Christmas special for our guests, even if it is just for a little while.
