Nobody owes you anything.

Nobody owes you anything.
The world is not fair, and never will be.
You will die, and everyone you care about will die.

So what’s the point in it all?

I frequently have this conversation with my kids.

I believe that we are here by being on a planet with the right elements to support life, and the evolutionary wheel of good fortune that resulted in our existence.

I am responsible for my life and my impact on those around us, so I conduct myself accordingly.

I don’t do things because Someone’s watching, or because I’m afraid of the fiery hell of the Afterlife.

I do what’s right because I want to be the kind of human being my kids would want to model.

I want to make sure my life has meaning, by making a positive impact to everyone I meet.

As a Project Manager, when I find myself on one of the “character building” projects that may be quite painful to navigate, I will remind myself and my team that we are there to do the best job that we can.

When things are going crazy around us, we fall back on our integrity, our core values and principles to guide us through.

We keep on going, doing what’s right, even when its hard, even when no one’s watching, even when it feels futile.

Because we only have this one life.
To live. To love. To matter.

I don’t want to get to the end of the road and regret my life choices.
That includes not liking cinnamon.
Nope. 😛
