When it’s like looking for romance

Matching up with a Consulting Partner is like matching up with a romantic partner.

You want someone compatible.
Someone who meets your needs, at your level.

Yesterday’s post was about whether size mattered, when you’re looking for a career with a #SalesforcePartners.
Should you go for the smaller ones, or head towards the big names?
My guidance is that – if you aren’t sure of what you want; if you’re new to the game, then it doesn’t matter.

Work with a few, and then figure out which ones you like.

I would advice a little bit more caution if you’re a customer, and you’re wondering about the same thing.

The investment is bigger, mistakes can be costlier to recover.
User confidence can take a nose dive, and attempting to re-start a failed software implementation can be much harder the second time round.

So if you’re looking to match up with a partner, do your due diligence.

Spend a bit more time vetting the partners who are wooing you.

You don’t want to end up in bed with someone who snores and clips toenails in bed, because you’ll only end up in the spare bedroom – cursing your (now ex-) friend who introduced you to the blind date that started this whole mess. 😣
